Maritime Arbitrators

Malaysia's first batch of 14 maritime arbitrators was trained at the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA) from 1st to 3rd March 2007. The course was jointly organised and conducted with expertise from KLRCA and IKMAL.

This was made possible by a MOU between KLRCA and IKMAL and the introduction of the Fast Track Maritime Arbitration Small Claims Rules 2007 which is effective from 1st March 2007. The small claims procedure is for maritime arbitration under Ringgit Malaysia Five Hundred Thousand (RM500,000.00), whereby KLRCA delegates to IKMAL as the appointing authourity.

Any party wishing to commence an arbitration proceeding under these rules shall send to the Director, KLRCA a written request to commence arbitration proceedings.
