| 4 | IKMAL continuously updates its members with current maritime matters via its journal, Maritime Malaysia, distributed free of charge |
| 5 | Conduct seminars, forums, dialogues and conferences where local and foreign experts deliver and discuss topics of interest and concern to the maritime industry |
| 6 | Maintains constant liaison with government authorities, regulatory and enforcement agencies and other relevant bodies having relations with the maritime profession both in Malaysia and abroad |
| 7 | IKMAL comprises the nucleus of the maritime profession and has the authority to endorse seminars and courses related to the maritime industry |
| 8 | IKMAL is managed by a council elected annually from amongst its membership. Council members serve on a purely voluntary basis and its composition normally reflects the various disciplines existing within the membership rolls |
